Fall-Winter 2009 Wardrobe

Time to SWAP!

Fall-Winter 2009 Wardrobe

I’ve been brainstorming a new fall wardrobe for quite some time. I don’t know what it is about fall, but I always feel a sense of newness and possibility when the weather turns a bit crisper and clearer. For some reason, I always associate fall with new beginnings, like a student when the first semester of the year rolls around.

And what better time to create a new wardrobe!

To clarify, SWAP is an acronym for “sewing with a plan.” This informative article was the inspiration for my first SWAP.

The Pattern Review Wardrobe Contest is underway, and I think it would be fun to participate this year. The wardrobe has to be completed by November 30, same day by which I need to close on a house…

The criteria are four bottoms, five tops, and one topper (jacket, cardigan, poncho, etc.). All tops must go with all the bottoms, and a minimum of one print fabric must be incorporated. I’m working on my story board right now, and here are some of the patterns I have selected.

McCall’s 5190, same brown color in faux leather.

McCall’s 5523 View A in red.

Hot Patterns “No Sweat” Butterfly Top in a multi-red print.

Burda WOF 5-2009-103 Top. I like this color, but I was originally thinking black. Maybe I’ll make it in both colors.

Jalie 2908 Stretch Jeans, which I’m already working on, and they’re almost done!

I’m going to at least sew up these patterns for my own mini SWAP. If I can complete the whole thing by the deadline, I will definitely enter the PR contest.
