Review | Vogue 8379 Wrap Dress

Pattern Description: Vogue 8379 wrap front dress has soft pleats, side tie, and sleeve variations. Dress B has collar.

Pattern Sizing: 8-14, 16-22. I made a 10.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing? Yes!

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes! This picture doesn’t really show the vibrancy of the fabric, but you get the idea.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I’ve seen this pattern reviewed on Pattern Review over thirty times, and the dress looks great on so many different body types, shapes, and sizes. I had to try it for myself. I like the fact that the neckline doesn’t gape. I like the simple, yet elegant design of this dress.

Fabric used: Printed matte jersey from Fabric.com.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did not include the facings. I serged the edge of the bodice and neckline, and then just turned under and stitched.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I want to sew this again in black. I would highly recommend this to others.

Conclusion I wore this dress to a “retro” party on Halloween. I think it counts since the dress was designed in the 1970s. Get this pattern! 😀
