Review | Simplicity 3867 City Shorts

Pattern: Simplicity 3867 City Shorts

Pattern Description: Fitted, above the knee shorts.

Pattern Sizing: 6-14. I made a 12 tapering to a 14 in the hips. Perfect fit!

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing? Yes!!!

Were the instructions easy to follow? Extremely easy! There’s really nothing to this pattern. It only has two pieces: the front and the back. You just join the legs together like you normally would for pants. I didn’t even use twill tape for the waist. I just serged the edge, pressed it inside and top-stitched. The bottom of the shorts where there is a slit on the side require a little more attention, but that was easy too. I used a metal zipper.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Nothing to dislike. These are very easy, stlyish shorts.

Fabric Used: 100% cotton denim (no stretch).

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: None, except for tapering to a 14 in hips, as already mentioned.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Maybe I’ll sew these again in a light-colored twill.

Conclusion: I acutally made these shorts last summer/fall, and I’m just getting around to reviewing them.
