Just wanted to post some pictures of my Hot Patterns jewelry roll. It’s a free pattern found on Fabric.com. This is a cute idea, but the pattern needed tweaking. I don’t really care for the use of prepackaged bias tape; it’s very stiff and kind of changes the feel of the jewelry roll. If I had enough fabric and the patience, I probably would have made my own bias tape. But I was lucky to find colors that matched my Amy Butler fabric pretty well.
I had to remake the large, outside panel pattern piece, because the original did not take into account the zipper insertion on the inside. Also, the instructions tell you to seam the ring holder at 3/4″. That’s mighty small, and hard to turn inside out. I did mine at 1/2″ instead. Even 3/8″ would work well, though it will make the ring holder circumference even thicker.
On my version, I used a snap instead of a button. Didn’t feel like messing with button holes.
Love the contrasting thread color. I’m so proud of my zipper work here.
My kitty Leo wanted to get in on the action.
