I finished the dress last night. I had already done a bulk of the work earlier in the week, and I just had hemming left. The sizing of this caftan was crazy huge; I had to take the sides in two inches each and take in under the arm about three inches. But now the fit is more comfortable and less baggy. The woman it was for picked it up at 9 a.m. this morning. Now she has a nice caftan to wear in Rwanda while she ministers to the women there.
Next up is Butterick 5030, a mock wrap dress for woven fabrics. The fabric is 100% cotton poplin from Fabric.com. I may start to cut this out next week. The nice thing about this pattern is that it requires very few notions: only two hooks and eyes, and I have plenty of those!
